Rick Isom updates council on a tour taken regarding the possibility of an alternate route. Those attending include CDOT officials, merchants from Main Street, City officials, and the Downtown Development Board. No map was found but it appears the route is very similar to the one adopted in 2006. July 15, 1981

There appears to be a letter to CDOT with attachments asking for money. While the full report referred to in the document titled Resource Team Report for Delta, CO Jan. 1982 could not be found, it does appear the issue of a truck route was previously studied as part of that report. In addition, the Comp Plan shown (no date) also speaks to the need for an "elimination of railroad grade crossings, the provision of easy truck circulation...". In addition, the Comp Plan aslo indicates a location for the truck route on the west side of town in the location of the recently adopted plan. April 1986
A group of agencies and individuals write a report titled Redeveloping Delta's Commercial Corridor. The report included a concept map showing the exact route adopted in 2006. November 17, 1986
Manager Schrock reports of recently meeting with CDOT about the possibility of an alternate route in the City. August 17, 1993

The location of a truck route is studied by numerous community leaders in a report titled Delta Retail and Commercial Master Planning Project. The three routes identified are the exact three studied in the Major Street plan re-write of 2000. 2000

The Delta City Council officially adopts the $100,000 Kirkham Michael/URS Corporation engineering study of the alternate truck route as the working document on the project. July 26, 2007
The City was awarded $500,000 from The DOLA (Colorado Department of Local Affairs) Energy/Mineral Impact Assistance Program to help fund the next phase of the Alternate Truck Route Project. October 11, 2007
The City requests proposals from qualified firms to complete the full design plans and specifications for the preferred alignment of the alternate truck route as determined in the March 2006 routing study. December, 2007
A selection committee chose the team of Stantec, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and Austin Civil Group for the Alternate Truck Route project. City Council approved unanimously to enter into contract with Stantec Consulting Engineers, Inc. for the final design of the Alternate Truck Route at the December 18th regular meeting. February 25, 2008
The first public meeting to show final design progress for the Alternate Truck Route project was held and The City announced the winner of the Name the Truck Route Contest. Jean Lemon was the winner and her submittal, Confluence Drive, becomes the official name of Delta's planned alternate truck route. | |
