"I want to write in support of the proposed alternate truck route for the City of Delta. My family has had a business presence on Delta's Main Street for over 62 years. It is vital to Delta's economy that the truck traffic on Main Street be addressed. The proposed plan is a good one. This alternate route will bring more consumers to the downtown area and will be helpful to the Delta businesses. I personally have visited with people waiting to cross Main Street who stated they are fearful to go downtown and if something is not done soon, they would do their shopping elsewhere.

Thank you for the opportunity to express my opinion."

"As a downtown business owner I am anxiously looking forward to the day when the people of Delta finally see the light and OK the plans for the proposed truck route around HWY 50 through the heart of Delta.

I own a coffee shop, Doghouse Espresso, and the noise from the traffic is so loud that we can barely hear the music in-house during business hours. Some of our customers are afraid to park on Main Street due to the rush of trucks and other traffic on such a narrow street and choose instead to park on a side street. This hurts all of the businesses on Main Street.

We also have outside tables on the sidewalk and although some of our customers use them it is difficult to carry on a conversation without pausing every time a truck goes by in order to hear or be heard.

I am 100% in support of the alternate truck route and believe that it will surely enhance the downtown businesses to have a more pedestrian friendly environment in which to wander and shop as well as a safe place to get in and out of your vehicle."

"I had some spare time today to visit the Delta City web page and thoroughly read about the proposed truck route. I was especially intrigued by the DCI article on the poll taken by Jim Kearns at The Eatery. I am a bit puzzled by the inability of the downtown business owners and a large portion of the public to see past a month or two from the day the first truck traverses the bypass. Downtown Grand Junction is a prime example of how a city can recover from a major change, i.e., the Mall, and be more beautiful and have a greater tax producing base than ever before. Delta already has the beauty with our murals and the flowers. I am anxious to see the plan developed."
