July 30, 1947: Mr. C.A. Fowler attended a City Council meeting to request a solution to the problem of truck traffic on Main Street. He suggested a new route to divert the trucks that frequently traveled through town, hauling produce to Commission houses and the Sugar Factory. After some discussion, the Council informed Mr. Fowler they would certainly take the matter under advisement.
Over the years, many more comments and studies have been completed to investigate a project of this magnitude.
$2.8M grant could stall Delta’s truck route
While the City of Delta was successful in its quest for grant funding for an alternate truck route, the $2.8 million awarded by the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) falls far short of the $26.5 million needed to complete the project.

A public meeting for Confluence Drive was held Tuesday April 28, 2009. City staff and project consultants from Stantec Inc. and Parsons Brinckerhoff presented information on the project including project progress, detailed design plans, and a conceptual animation of the proposed design.
