July 30, 1947: Mr. C.A. Fowler attended a City Council meeting to request a solution to the problem of truck traffic on Main Street. He suggested a new route to divert the trucks that frequently traveled through town, hauling produce to Commission houses and the Sugar Factory. After some discussion, the Council informed Mr. Fowler they would certainly take the matter under advisement.
Over the years, many more comments and studies have been completed to investigate a project of this magnitude.
